**Your role and responsibilities**
As a UI/UX Design Intern, you'll work alongside experienced designers and researchers at IBM Studios Austin. You'll contribute to the design of intuitive, user-centered experiences while learning industry best practices and tools.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Assisting UX researchers in testing concepts with users and integrating findings into design directions.
- Supporting the creation of low- and high-fidelity mockups, prototypes, and design specifications using tools like Figma.
- Helping design user flows, interactions, and layouts using IBM's design systems.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams including product management, engineering, and marketing.
- Participating in agile ceremonies, design critiques, and team workshops.
- Engaging in learning opportunities to grow your design skills and understanding of enterprise software.
**Required technical and professional expertise**
- Currently pursuing a degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Examples of design work (coursework, personal projects, or freelance) that demonstrate an understanding of user-centered design.
- Familiarity with design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or similar.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
**Preferred technical and professional experience**
- Awareness of inclusive design and accessibility principles.
- Exposure to design systems, agile practices, or design thinking (through coursework or personal exploration).
- Curiosity and a desire to learn and grow in a collaborative environment.
- Self-motivation and a positive attitude.
